New Albany welcomed a new Japanese restaurant on Friday – Yamato Steak House of Japan.
Generic sushi photo, not an actual serving from Yamato. Looks good, though.
And it’s in a familiar spot – it’s the former Fresh Market Cafe, which opened in mid-June.
So, after about a little less than six months, the restaurant was changed, closing on Nov. 30.
A letter posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page last month said, in part,:
Thank you for your patronage to Fresh Market Cafe! We are excited to inform you that we will be rebranding our New Albany location to better meet the needs of the local community.
…. Yamato will serve authentic Japanese Hibachi steak, chicken and seafood. We will have fresh sushi served daily and a full-service bar.
Based on comments over the weekend, it appears to have opened as a smashing success.
The location is 302 State Highway 30 W in New Albany. The phone number is 662.539.0880 or 662.539.0881
Hours are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m-10:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
The Fresh Market Cafe in Tupelo still is open.
