General Atomics has expanded seven times since breaking ground on its state-of-the-art facility in Mississippi.
On Monday, it will announce its eighth expansion at a 10 a.m. ceremony in the Tupelo Lee Industrial Park South in Shannon.
Its last expansion, announced May 30, 2012, was a $12 million project that was to add 25 jobs in three years. At the time, the plant employed 65.
We don’t know how big the next expansion will be, but we’ll find out Monday.
The General Atomics facility assembles and tests advanced linear motors for electromagnetic aircraft launching systems. The EMALS will be used in the U.S. Navy’s next generation of aircraft carriers.
