Universal Asset Management, the plane recycling and parts company that’s set up at the Tupelo Regional Airport, will have its first official “behind-the-scenes” public tour of its disassembly operations on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

The tour is a joint effort between Universal Asset Management, Airline Maintenance Service Inc. , the Tupelo Regional Airport and Tupelo Aviation Unlimited to show the community and aviation enthusiasts what happens behind the scenes at the airport.
Tourists will also be shown around the airport and can take pictures with large aircraft on the ramp. The tours are open to the public; however, any person under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Free food and drink will be provided by Old Venice Pizza company and the first 50 visitors will receive a free T-shirt. There will also be a drawing for two roundtrip tickets from Tupelo to Atlanta through Silver Airways.
UAM’s owner and Chief Executive Officer Keri Wright states, “The tours are the perfect opportunity for the local community to come in and see exactly what happens at our facility and learn more about airplanes. …We are opening our doors on the first Saturday of each month to give everyone the chance to see our facility and the large commercial aircraft that are in the process of being disassembled, as well as give the community an idea of what happens to the aircraft after they have been disassembled.”
