Furniture Brands donates $100,000 to Red Cross in Mississippi

The Charitable Trust of Furniture Brands International presented a $100,000 donation Tuesday to the American Red Cross at the company's Lane Furniture plant in Belden. The company made the donation to aid in the tornado recovery effort in Mississippi.

Furniture Brands International's headquarters are located in St. Louis and the company also has five locations in Mississippi where Lane Furniture is manufactured. The company is also donating $30,000 for tornado relief in the St. Louis area.

Patty Tucker, left in photo, executive director of the Red Cross' Northeast Mississippi chapter based in Tupelo, accepts the check from Meredith Graham, Furniture Brands deputy general counsel, and Greg Ray, Lane Furniture president.

"Taking care of our communities where we work and where we live is very important to all of us at Furniture Brands," said Ralph Scozzafava, CEO of Furniture Brands, in a news release. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the families that have been impacted by these terrible storms and we wanted to help in any way we can with the recovery efforts."

More than 1,900 people are employed at the company's Mississippi locations and more than 200 people are employed at Furniture Brands International's headquarters in Clayton, Mo.
