BILOXI -- Stilt walkers and “Biloxi Beauties” to slide down the margarita volcano are among about 1,000 jobs that will be filled as Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Casino & Restaurant Biloxi prepares to open.
Job fairs are scheduled for two Mondays, March 5 and March 12, from noon to 6 p.m. at The Dock restaurant on Seaway Road in Gulfport.
Those who can’t come those days can drop off a resume when the human relations office opens in early April at 300 Howard Ave., Biloxi, or check job openings online.The resort in East Biloxi is expected to open the week of May 20.
“We’re hiring in just about all the departments,” said Cynthia Simms, human relations director for the new casino. She ticked off security, marketing, engineering, information technology, casino positions and food and beverage. Applicants must be at least 21. The pay scale for the 1,000 jobs ranges from minimum wage to $40,000 or more, she said
Those whose skills match the jobs available will be called back for a final interview and should know in two or three weeks if they are hired. Auditions will be required for those hoping to be among the 10 to 12 stilt walkers and the six to eight Biloxi Beauties. For those jobs, experience isn’t necessary. “We’ll train,” Simms said.
