Don't panic if you can't reach your Coast friends or family on their cell phones. C Spire says its network is down in South Mississippi.
From SunHerald.com (full story):
Fiber optic cable damage has caused voice service to be down for C Spire Wireless users in South Mississippi, said company spokesperson Dave Miller.
He said he hoped that service would be back up within a few hours. Crews are currently working to isolate the location and severity of the cable damage, Miller said.

4:52 p.m. from C Spire:
The C Spire service outage that affected parts of south Mississippi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast earlier today from about noon to 3:50 p.m. has been resolved. Service to virtually all affected customers was restored at 3:50 p.m. today by teams of repair and network technicians.
The problem was caused by two independent contractors who were digging in an area between Seminary and Hattiesburg, Mississippi and exposed and damaged fiber optic cable that helps route C Spire voice and data traffic to regional switching facilities.
The contractors were not working for C Spire and the work was not related to our network.
We know how important wireless service is to our customers and how much they rely on the C Spire personalized network. That's why we are working with individual customers who have been impacted by the outage to provide appropriate credit.
