It was most recently A Taste of Soul, and before that, it was the Downtown Eatery. For the longest time, it was Todd's Downtown Deli.

Now, the restaurant at 316 N. Spring St., in Tupelo, behind the courthouse, is Live From the Kitchen, which opened recently.

A flier says it offers "down home Southern cuisine," and it's daily buffet features items like meat loaf, fried chicken, smothered pork chops, hamburger steak, BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, purple hull peas, cabbage, corn, etc. ... and there's a Sunday buffet offering turkey and dressing, fried chicken, roast, greens, butter beans, mac and cheese, candied yams, potato salad and peach cobbler.

The weekday lunch plate is $6.95, which comes with a meat, two sides, bread, dessert and a drink.

Hungry yet?

Other plates include catfish, hamburger steak, Philly steak, shrimp, wings, chicken livers and chicken strips. Thursday and Friday specials include chitterlings (or if you prefer, chitlins) and BBQ ribs and catfish.

And it has other sides and salads on the menu, as well as sandwiches.

Check it out when you can. The phone number is (662) 840-1194.
