Looking ahead to tonight, the start of the Ole Miss-LSU series, read what Matt Snyder has to say about the Rebels' approach at the plate with runners in scoring position.
Also, Les East of The Baton Rouge Advocate writes about the stretch run and what West-leading LSU has to do to achieve its goals. There are nine remaining SEC games. I'm thinking Ole Miss, at 10-11 in the league right now, needs go 5-4 to feel good about its standing for an NCAA at-large bid.
The Rebels missed the NCAAs last year after a string of eight appearances.
With a 7-2 finish - a tall order - the Rebels could play their way back into the regional host conversation. A 6-3 mark would leave the Rebels at 16-14 in the league. In 2007 they went 16-14 and hosted, but that included reaching the SEC tournament semifinals. In 2010 they also went 16-14 and reached the SEC semifinals and went on the road to Virginia.
