Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning. ...

New Ole Miss track coach Brian O'Neal has completed his staff, announcing five assistant coaches on Monday. He retained Greg Stringer and Adam Judge from the previous staff then tapped three big-name programs for the remainder of his staff getting Gavin Kennedy from Illinois, Erin Dawson from Arizona and Lena Bettis from Michigan State.

From Memphis, David Williams says six straight national championships from the SEC have robbed college football of its drama, and it's time for someone else to claim the brass ring.

From Detroit, Zach Travis writes that there's no better way for Michigan to return to national prominence than by knocking off Alabama in their season opener at Cowboys Stadium. Though they've had success in the Big 10, it's been a while since the Wolverines have been in the national picture.

From Gannett Louisiana, Glenn Guilbeau describes a scene of confusion around LSU following the announcement that Tyrann Mathieu, the Honey Badger, was leaving the football team.

From Fayetteville, ArkansasSports360.com tells us about RB Knile Davis who has been on the mend since an ankle injury ended his season before it began a year ago. It's been expected that Davis will be a big part of the Razorbacks' plans this year, and he may be. But it's looking like he won't test that ankle with live contact until the season opener.

From Auburn, much like at Ole Miss, no quarterback at Auburn has stepped up to win the job. The competition between run-oriented Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley, the better passer, remains on-going. Auburn coach Gene Chizik says he will name a starter before his team's season opener against Clemson in Atlanta on the evening of Sept. 1.

From Columbia, South Carolina cornerback Akeem Auguste, a starter in the secondary, will miss at least a month with a leg injury.
