Storms strike Tippah County on Sunday

TIPPAH COUNTY - A storm knocked out power to many areas of Ripley and Dumas early Sunday evening, according to fragmentary reports. There were no reports of injuries.

The storm apparently bypassed Walnut. Officicials there reported no trees down, and said there was power in town. Blue Mountain officials reported power in town, and said they had no reports of damages in town.

East Ripley was without power as of 10 p.m., and Dumas was without power as well. There was also a report of at least one roof torn off by the storm, and several other reports of damages. There were many reports of trees down in county roads, including parts of Miss. 15, Supervisor Dist. 3, the Buena Vista area and County Road 700. The trees were reported cleared from the state highway.

Crews were working to restore the outages and clear the roads, reports indicated.
