M.D. Jennings made the lead graph of my game story, having caught a pass early in the game just as lightning entered the area. He was a senior receiver and defensive back on that team, and he went on to record 70 tackles and five interceptions that season.
Jennings was named first-team all-state. I named him honorable mention on the Daily Journal’s All-Area team. I’m also not very smart.
After a productive career as a safety at Arkansas State, Jennings signed with Green Bay as a free agent last year. In 15 games, he recorded seven tackles. He’s played in all three games this season but has yet to record a tackle, pass break-up, or interception.
On Monday night, Jennings had a shot at making his first big mark on the NFL.
On the final play of the game, Seattle’s last-gasp pass appeared to be intercepted by Jennings in the end zone, but officials ruled that he and receiver Golden Tate had simultaneous possession and awarded the Seahawks the game-winning touchdown.
Several Packers bashed the officials after the game.
Jennings did not.
