Sephora had its grand opening this morning in Tupelo. The makeup and beauty retailer is inside the JCPenney location in The Mall at Barnes Crossing.
At 8:45 a.m., 70 people were in line to get a free gift card with mystery values. Employees let everyone in 10 minutes early and did the ribbon cutting.
Sephora has 750 gift bags for customers today. We left at 10:15 a.m. and there were still plenty left.
The store is open when JCP is open, usually 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Jody Lehman, owner of A Cook’s Place, sent this email out at 11 a.m.:
Things Are Changing at A Cook’s Place
"I wanted to let all of our customers know that we will be closing our current physical store location at the end of the year. At the same time, we will be trying out a new location at the Joyful Creations Gift Market on McCullough Blvd."
H.M. Richards expanding again
Just got back from a groundbreaking ceremony for upholstered furniture manufacturer H.M. Richards.
The company is adding 86,000 square feet to its 730,000 square foot facility in the Harry A. Martin North Lee Industrial Complex in Baldwyn. The company, founded in 1997, is expanding for the seventh time. Starting with 51 employees, the company now employs 650 and could add more if business warrants.
Company vice president of operations Joey Tarrant, seen in this photo, said H.M. Richards has added two production lines in the past year and 110 employees. The new addition, consisting mainly of finished goods warehousing, can accommodate three additional production lines.
We’ll have more in tomorrow’s Daily Journal.
