BOONEVILLE – Out of 22 of the finest high school marching bands in three states that made up the field of Northeast Mississippi Community College’s annual Dixie Marching Band Championship, Houston High School of Germantown, Tenn., claimed the title of Grand Champion.

Booneville High School was the Sweepstakes Winner for classes 2A and 3A.

Under the direction of Jim Smith and Spencer Nesvick, Houston not only claimed the overall title, but was also selected the Sweepstakes Winner for classes 4A, 5A and 6A.

First, second and third place winners were named in each of the five classes of competition. Riverside High School of Decaturville, Tenn., took home first place honors in class 2A while Humboldt High School of Humboldt, Tenn., placed second. Booneville High School won first place in class 3A while Ripley High School came in second and Alcorn Central High School, third.

McNairy Central High School of Selmer, Tenn., claimed first place honors in class 4A with Itawamba AHS coming in second place and Tishomingo County High School finishing in third place.

First place honors in class 5A went to Athens High School of Athens, Ala. Saltillo High School claimed the second place trophy.

In class 6A Collierville High School of Collierville, Tenn., placed third and Tupelo High School finished runner-up to first place Houston.
