Man charged with murder in Tupelo shooting

TUPELO - A Tupelo man died from injuries sustained in a shooting Friday afternoon.

Everette Foster, 48, of Tupelo, was pronounced dead around 4 p.m. Friday, shortly after arriving that the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Lee County Coroner Carloyn Green said Foster died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Foster was shot around 3:30 p.m. at 309 S. Canal Street in East Tupelo.

Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton said a suspect was taken into custody Friday afternoon. On Saturday he announced James Thomas Williams, 43, was charged with murder in connection with the case.

Carelton said more details will be released as the investigation unfolds.
