Well, the Madness has ended. Congrats to North Carolina, and congrats to the NCAA on another fine tournament. I can at least say I had the Tar Heels in the final. Stupidly, I had them losing to Memphis. Now I know why they call it March Madness – it makes you do crazy things.

So we return to a semblance of normality. Along with coverage of the championship game, today's Journal has a column from yours truly. I write about MSU baseball coach John Cohen and his "brutal honesty," as I call it (link). The Bulldogs dropped two of three over the weekend to Auburn and return to action tonight at UAB. Here's a recap of the Bulldogs' past week and a look ahead (link).

On the pro level, the Pirates rallied past my Cardinals on Opening Day, 6-4, in St. Louis. Former Bulldog Paul Maholm was strong on the hill for Pittsburgh, allowing 1 earned run on seven hits in 6.2 innings, but he got a no-decision (link).

MSU's football team returns to the practice field today at 3:30 p.m. See you there.
