LIVE FROM PEARL
We are at Trustmark Park getting ready for the Governor's Cup between Ole Miss (25-10) and Mississippi State (19-17). Starting for the Rebels, the home team, is Brett Bukvich (4-1, 3.86); State will throw Ricky Bowen (2-1, 5.40).
MSU coach John Cohen had some nice things to say about Ole Miss yesterday. "You look at their numbers, and there’s nothing spectacular outside the numbers of Scott Bittle. There’s nothing absolutely spectacular on their team, but I don’t think there’s a weakness either. Most teams we compete against have a type of weakness, and Ole Miss doesn’t have a glaring weakness."
MSU has quite a few weaknesses, like its bullpen. The relievers' numbers are simply not fit for print (plus I haven't figured them up). Interesting note: Former Oxford High standout Brent Brownlee will start in left field for MSU. Sunny and pretty warm here. A good night for baseball.
