Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis is once again conducting a fund-raising campaign called “A Family Affair.” It’s a friendly competition between families who have been helped by Le Bonheur. Each family asks their friends and family to give money to Le Bonheur by hosting fundraisers and reaching out to their communities.
The fundraiser includes a Tupelo competition involving north Mississippi families. This year, three families with Lee County ties are participating:
-the Hutchins family
-the Young family
-the Smith family.
Donations can be made directly to the families or through the Le Bonheur Web site.
The campaign ends with a celebration, A Family Affair’s Miracle Maker Blast. The family that raises the most money is crowned Tupelo’s Miracle Maker Family of the Year.
The Tupelo Miracle Maker Blast will be Tuesday, April 20, at the BancorpSouth Conference Center/Hilton Garden Inn, 363 East Main Street. The event lasts from 6:30 p.m. until 9.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 3-12, and free for children 2 & under. Tickets include entertainment, food and beverages and silent auction.
Last year, the Tupelo Family Affair raised $30,000 in its first year. The winning family – Russell, Terri and Cooper Hughes of Tupelo – contributed $12,000 to that total.
