ICC Softball Winter Clinic Jan. 11
ICC softball coach Andy Kirk has set Jan. 11 as the date for the 2014 Itawamba Community College Lady Indian Softball Winter Clinic.
Session One will be a Pitching and Catching Clinic starting at 10 a.m. and will be limited to the first 20 campers to register.
The pitching clinic will cover everything from warm-ups, mechanics and different types of pitches while emphasizing drills to improve speed, mechanics, location and moving pitches.
The catching clinic will cover the basics fundamentals of catching. Participants will be taught how to frame, receive, and block pitches while covering the fundamentals of steal, pickoffs and fielding bunts. Catchers are responsible for bringing their own gear.
Session Two will be a hitting clinic starting at 1 p.m. and will be limited to the first 30 campers to register.
The hitting clinic will provide instruction in all aspects of hitting, bunting and slapping. Hitting instruction will include teaching fundamental aspects of hitting stroke, hitting from machines and live pitching situations. Players are encouraged to bring their own bat and batting gloves.
Sessions will cost $30 each. A $5 discount will be available for participants that attend both clinics.
All clinics require advanced registration and will not be open to walk-up participants. Email Coach Kirk at ankirk@iccms.edu to reserve your spot.
The camp will take place at the ICC Softball Complex on the Fulton Campus. In the event of rain or inclement weather the camp will be held at the ICC Spring Sports Indoor Facility. Participants are asked to bring cleats and tennis shoes in case of the clinic being moved to the indoor facility.
