HOUSTON – A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a high-powered rifle into a mobile home and his case will be presented to the next term of the Chickasaw County grand jury.

LaMichael Johnson, 20, of Mantee, has been charged by Houston police with aggravated assault after he allegedly discharged an SKS automatic rifle into a trailer off of Duncan Drive Friday night, May 17.

“There was supposedly some kind of on-going dispute between Johnson and the occupant of the trailer,” said Houston Police Chief Billy Voyles. “Firing shots like that at random can kill innocent people and we are taking this very serious.”

Voyles said officers pulled over the car Johnson was riding in on CR 345 shortly after the incident was reported. The rifle had been thrown out of the vehicle and it was later recovered by police.

Voyles said three other people in the vehicle were also detained and the investigation is continuing and additional charges could be filled.
