Bobby Harrison

BIG CREEK – Robert Calvin “Bobby” Harrison, 67, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born Feb. 2, 1946, in Grenada to Calvin Dee Harrison and Julia Brown Harrison.

He was a self-employed upholster and a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the National Guard Armory and Masonic Lodge 506. He was a founder and fire chief of Big Creek Fire Department; president and certified operator of the Big Creek Water Association; and a member of the Big Creek Board of Alderman.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Thompson Harrison of Big Creek; a daughter, Pam (Turner) Shaw of Slate Springs; a son, Robert Dee (Tatyana) Harrison of Big Creek; his mother, Julia Brown Harrison of Derma; two sisters, Marilyn (Sidney) Weddle of Slate Springs and Brenda Genin of Calhoun City; two brothers, Nathan (Diane) Harrison of Calhoun City and David Harrison of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Nicole Langford (Bronson) Ganger, Olga Harrison and Calvin Dee Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Dee Harrison.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City. The Rev. Jimmy Vance and the Rev. Alan Dearing will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Big Creek. Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Weddle, Brad Weddle, Bronson Ganger, Blake McCuiston, Sonny Harrison and Taylor Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Big Creek Fire Department and Calhoun City Fire Department.
