Glendora Houston

ABERDEEN – Glendora Boland Houston died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at her residence in Aberdeen. She was born in Big Creek to Kelly Boland and Susan B. Boland. She was the first school nurse in the state of Mississippi. She was the organizer and director of Aberdeen Main Street Association for 20 years. She was also a member of DAR.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Junior Hamilton (Paula) of Pontiac, Mich. and Jack Hamilton (Constance) of Aberdeen; one stepson, Hon. David W. Houston III (Debi) of Aberdeen; one sister, Mary Ellen MacCasslin of Clarksdale; two brothers, Walter Boland of Maine and Emory R “”Buddy”” Boland of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death her husband, David W. Houston Jr.
Pallbearers will be Walter Lann III, Walter Lann Jr., Steve English, Dale Daniels, Quinell Shumpert, Lee Cooper and Henry Hammack.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aberdeen First United Methodist Church.
