Ruble Vance

VARDAMAN – Ruble Burkett Vance, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Calhoun Health Service Nursing Home in Calhoun City. He was born July 20, 1936, in Chickasaw County, the son of Frank B. Vance and Mary Walls Vance. He was retired from Washington Furniture. He was a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church, and a Mason.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry (Craig) Williams of Vardaman; two sisters, Grace McClain of Vardaman and Joyce Hooper of Mathiston; one brother, R.E. Vance of Houston; two grandchildren, Trisha Lynn Williams and Dillon Craig Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Vance; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Vance; two sons, Wayne Vance and John Vance; his parents and four sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at New Hope Baptist Church in Vardaman. The Rev. J.R. Eaton, the Rev. Archie Goodwin and the Rev. Michael Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in Elzy Cemetery at Vardaman. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Ravis Winter, Jeremy Winter, Bobby Whitt, Johnny Whitt, Jerry McClain, Ricky McClain, Robert McClain, Bill Wright, Jason Hooper and Dillon Williams.
Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at New Hope Baptist Church for one hour prior to service time Sunday.
