Toppers take down jackets

The Houston Hilltoppers made a mark in non-division play during Super Bulldog weekend in Starkville, posting maroon and white on a win over the Starkville Yellowjackets.
Freshman pitcher, Anekein Rish, went all seven innings in the 8-2 win.
“Anekein threw another great ball game for us,” said coach Scott Gann. “He just really keeps hitters off balance and guessing. The defense played extremely well behind him, turning a couple of double plays and getting him out of a few jams.”
Austin Burdine led the Toppers at the plate, hitting 1-2 with two RBI. Denver McQuary had two RBI as did Reid Carter while Luke Hancock and Wes Parker had one RBI each.
“Saturday’s game was one that our boys just seemed to do everything right,” Gann said. “And our hitters really stepped up when we got runners in scoring positions.”web hst side
