Boyer receives Toyota scholarship through FFA

The National FFA Organization awarded a $2,500 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc, scholarship to Chapman Boyer of Houston to further his educational goals.
Boyer, a May gradaute of Houston High School has been a member of the FFA through the Houston School of Science and Technology for five years and was selected Jr. Star Farmer of the Year for the state. He has also received a State Proficiency award for Veterinary Science and his State degree.
Boyer plans to use the award to pursue a degree at Itawamba Community College.
The scholarship is one of almost 2,000 awarded through the national FFA Organization’s scholarship program for 2014. Currently 126 sponsors contribute more than $2.2 million to support educational efforts for students.
Selections were based on the applicant’s leadership, academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agricultural work or work experience in agricultural education and future goals.
In addition to his FFA participation, Boyer was a member of the Houston High School tennis and football teams. He is a member of Houston First United Methodist Church and is active in the youth group.Boyer
