Foard receives 2014 DEKALB award



HOUSTON – T’Lecia Foard of the Houston School of Science and Technology was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by Monsanto Company.

Foard received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agriculture work experience. Foard’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included: Chapter Officer, Chapter FFA Degree, competing in the Opening and Closing Ceremony Contest and the Parliamentary Procedure Contest. Karen Cook is Foard’s agricultural education instructor at the Houston School of Science and Technology.

This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 67th anniversary. Over these 67 years more than 175,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agriculture honor. In 2013, over 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the Award. As the winner of the 2014 Award, Foard’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at the Houston School of Science and Technology.
