Amanda Price had big expectations for New Albany running back Boston Newsome.
She told him as much last November after the Bulldogs lost a first-round playoff game
New Albany coach Ron Price talks about running back Boston Newsome. The senior is putting up state-leading numbers.
“He’s an unbelievable kid. He deserves everything and he’s finally starting to get a little bit of attention. Last year, he had a great season and nobody really talked about him.”
“Every game after we say The Lord’s Prayer or during a timeout as an offensive unit, he always makes the comment, “Guys you know who we’re playing for.’ Just little things like that really mean a lot to me. It’s just neat that she and him had that conversation and he has worked hard in the offseason and all summer to make that happen. I’m thankful he’s had the year he’s had. Hopefully someone gives him the chance (in college).”
What makes him good…
“Just his determination. He never goes down on first contact, keeps his legs moving. It takes three or four to bring him to the ground and his character and great work ethic. He has the heart of a champion. He wants the football every play and wants to get a first down, whatever it takes. He can shift if needs or run you over if he needs to. Both those capabilities make him a handful for the defense to try to stop.”
