Welcome to the New Blog

Hey, people. Glad you’ve found me. As I wrote about this morning, this is the new home for the Daily Journal’s coverage of Mississippi State sports. I hope you like it.

This should be a big improvement over what we had back at the main site. For now, that’s where you’ll have to go to view old blog posts, but they’ll all be moved over here before too long. Just make sure you bookmark this page.

My first “real” blog post will likely come right after Dan Mullen finishes up his weekly press conference, which starts at 1 p.m. I’ll also post some video interviews here, and perhaps some audio for good measure.

Remember, we’re using Disqus for commenting, which allows you to log in via social media. If you have any questions or issues with that, let me know.

I’ll be headed to Starkville in just a bit, so I’ll check back then. Thanks for reading.

I am the online content coordinator for DJournal.com. I also co-host The Memo and Prep Rally podcasts and host the Newsbreak program. Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04).

  • Testing out the comments section. Seems pretty easy.

  • Looks good Brad, welcome to everyone!

  • @msudawg_15

    Great upgrade.

  • @tbradenbishop

A lot easier way to bash opinions. Score! JK, Brad.

  • MabenMaroon

Super move! Does this mean that the DJournal will be charging for news content in the near future?

  • Bulldawgfan

Looks good! Definitely, easier to comment.

  • Thanks for the feedback folks and for being here. MabenMaroon on paid content we’re talking about a number of things for the future and when we’re certain how it will work we’ll announce those plans. We’re open to hearing your thoughts, Todd Vinyard Online Editor.

    • MabenMaroon

Food for thought….If you go the direction of paid content in the future, maybe consider an option for sports content only, it would help when folks consider who they might purchase content from ( like say the CL for instance )…just a thought!

      • Thanks for the food Maben, I’ll chew on it for sure. And thanks for joining us here. Todd Vinyard/Online Editor

I expect some of us will be from a land far away. So just want to see how the dogs are doing.

Hey ez, reckon how long it will take “23” to show up and start blathering ignorance. Hopefully,Dawg fans can have some good banter on here without the annoying pests.

Ok Dawgs, whip these dang wareagles. Bad enough to live among them without losing to them year after year.
I’ll be smack talking all week, this is the year. HailState
site seems nice, and no pd and 23

You mean you don’t like the commentary provided by our trolling TSUN friends? 🙂

I think, for the most part, it’s all in good fun… you just have to take them with (a few) grains of salt!

He doesn’t bother me per say, his post are just the same old tired junk from an ole miss fan. But a blog conversation between MSU fans that provides good reading often turns into a war of words because of his or others post.
That smog machine fiasco is a big hit on utube. Even though it happened to us, it’s funny as heck

    Like the new site.

  • Brad, I’ve given you some crap in the past, but great job on the new blog, and you’ve been working your tail off the past couple weeks. Go Dawgs!!!!

    • Appreciate it. They keep me real busy this time of year.

  • Hey Brad, love the new blog – looks great! I just got back home and first thing I did was log on to check it out, the first thing that jumped out at me was the background – I was blown away, I created that image back in 2008: http://www.jonnychapps.com/2008/12/new-mississippi-state-football-helmet/

I am honored you guys are using that picture, looks great! Thanks for the great work you do for MSU!

    • Thank you for creating it. I looked at hundreds of helmets … this was the best by far- difficult bg work though – do you have a copy w/o the bg? -Shane Castile | DJournal Interactive

      • Sure, I could get you one with no background – what file format would you prefer (png, tiff, ect)

  • MidTennDog

Like the site. Anyone else having loading problems, though? I’m using IE 9 so that shouldn’t be the problem.
