On the Links: Battling Auburn, History; Notebook; Around the SEC

This week’s game: Auburn (0-1, 0-0 SEC) at MSU (1-0, 0-0), Saturday, 11 a.m., ESPN (Dave PaschBrian Griese and Jenn Brown)

Good morning, happy shiny people. It’s Tuesday, which means I have some important linkage for you. Dan Mullen held his weekly press conference yesterday afternoon to kick off Auburn week, and so here are my stories.

• Main story: Bulldogs prepare to battle Auburn, recent history. I know people don’t like Mullen’s 3-12 record vs. the West to be brought up, but as I noted on the Bulldog Beat this morning, beating a division foe like Auburn is what separates MSU from where it is now and where it wants to be.

• Notebook: Bulldogs’ O-linemen need to sound off. We also examine the kicking situation a little bit in this story.

We spoke with assistant coaches on Monday and will catch up with some players this evening. Also, look for the Blog Bag later today.

Let’s take a look around the SEC this morning: As Kevin Scarbinsky writes, this game is pretty big for Auburn coach Gene Chizik, too. … From Charles Goldberg, here’s a video of Auburn QB Kiehl Frazier talking about scoring in the red zone. … Tyrann Mathieu is re-enrolling at LSU, which means he’s obviously focusing on his academics and getting his stuff together. No football for the Honey Badger this year. … My man Parrish Alford has a story about the Ole Miss offense.

Been following your blog for a while now… I like the new digs. It’s definitely more user friendly, and I already see a lot of the regular CL commentators over here. Thanks for your hard work.

    • Thank you. Appreciate the feedback, and glad you like it.
