Prospect Video: Lafayette’s Buford Finding a Groove

I covered the Lafayette-Pontotoc game last night, and the Commodores won handily, 41-6. After the game I caught up with Lafayette all-purpose back D.K. Buford, a 2014 prospect who has offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Buford had 76 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, and he had two catches for 33 yards. Lafayette gained 400 total yards, with 289 of that coming on the ground. Buford started the year at running back, but after getting bottled up in a loss to Oxford in Week 3, his coaches began putting Buford in the slot quite a bit. That seems to have opened things up for him.

In the last three games since losing to Oxford – all Lafayette wins – Buford has rushed for 280 yards and six TDs on 35 carries. On the season, he has 484 yards, six TDs rushing and 147 yards, 1 TD on 12 receptions.

Here’s some postgame video of Buford. Enjoy.

I am the online content coordinator for Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04). I'm working on a recipe for bacon-flavored coffee, which would solve all the world's problems.
