Next game: No. 21 MSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) at Kentucky (1-3, 0-1), Oct. 6, 11:21 a.m., SEC Network (Dave Neal, Andre Ware and Cara Capuano)
Good morning, people.
I have a lot of links and some other info for you on this Wednesday. Let’s start with my MSU notebook from today’s Journal, in which I look at the Bulldogs’ motivational issues, LaDarius Perkins being added to the Doak Walker watch list, and injuries.
Yesterday was the only time this week we’re getting players, so I’ll have to stretch out what I was able to gather until Sunday. Expect to see stories on Jamerson Love, Nickoe Whitley and Perkins in the coming days.
• The first Mississippi State Club Sportsfest is being held this weekend in Tupelo, so that could be something fun to do, what with the football team being off this weekend.
• Remember that crazy ending to Monday Night Football? Well, the guy who appeared to intercept Russell Wilson‘s desperation heave is M.D. Jennings, who played ball at Calhoun City High School. I covered him way back then, and I had a short piece on Jennings today. A lot of Green Bay players (rightfully) complained about how that game ended, but Jennings didn’t partake in the bashing.
• Later today, MSU will unveil its football uniforms for the Texas A&M and Ole Miss games. The game against A&M (Nov. 3) is a rematch of the 2000 Independence Bowl, a.k.a. the “Snow Bowl.” MSU will wear all white, maybe even white helmets. As for the Egg Bowl unis, the Bulldogs were decked out in gold trim last year, and I suspect that’s what you’ll see today, except on a white road uniform of course.
I will not be at said press conference, because I was just in Starkville last night and will be back tomorrow for a press conference with baseball coach John Cohen. Plus, you know, they’re just uniforms. (Although there could be an announcement about the contract with adidas.)
