On the Links: Wrapping Up a Busy Weekend

Even though it’s mid-December, things have been quite busy on the MSU beat. There’s a full weekend of stuff to recap for you, so I’ll do that now.

• MSU scrimmaged yesterday, and the defense came away looking good.

• In my scrimmage notebook, the young guys talk about how these first few bowl practices have benefited them.

• Back on Saturday, they played the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic in Montgomery. Nine MSU commits played for Mississippi, including defensive end Chris Jones, who was named team MVP. He also recently was given a fifth star by 247Sports. Alabama won the game, 21-16.

• In case you missed it, I had a story in Sunday’s Journal about freshman linebacker Richie Brown.

• And finally, the basketball team – which is without injured center Wendell Lewislost at Loyola-Chicago on Saturday, 59-51. The Bulldogs (3-6) are back in action Saturday against Central Arkansas; the game will be played at Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

I am the online content coordinator for DJournal.com. Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04). I'm working on a recipe for bacon-flavored coffee, which would solve all the world's problems.
