Video: Bumphis Reflects on Early Football Days

Chad Bumphis is a name that’s been familiar to Tupeloans for a good eight years. As you can read in today’s Journal, the MSU senior receiver made his abilities known a long time ago, and he’s now wrapping up a fine college career in Starkville.

As the story notes, Bumphis wanted to quit football in middle school to focus on basketball. His coach wouldn’t let him, and his friendsĀ Justin Bean andĀ Kent Davis made sure he came to practice. It’s obviously worked out for him. Here is video of Bumphis talking about those days.

I am the online content coordinator for I also co-host The Memo and Prep Rally podcasts and host the Newsbreak program. Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04).

Sure glad for him and MSU that he stuck with football, looks like his teammate made a good decision to give up football for baseball ( Chris Statton )
