Florida-MSU Pregame: Borchert, Bulldogs Seek Good Shooting Night

Today’s game: No. 8 Florida (15-2, 5-0 SEC) at MSU (7-10, 2-3), 7 p.m., ESPN2 (Dave Lamont play-by-play, Kara Lawson analyst), XM 199, Sirius 123.

The Bulldogs are trying to snap a three-game losing skid against the SEC’s best team. No easy task for sure, although junior Colin Borchert thinks a good shooting night will give MSU a fighting chance. He was the topic of today’s game advance.

“We’re going to have to be a big key for us to win the game,” Borchert said of the shooters, “because we’re very small and we’re pretty good outside. I think if we have a well-rounded game where all our shooters are hitting pretty well, that we’re going to do pretty well.”

MSU will also have to cut down on the turnovers and find an inside presence as well. Florida won’t make that easy, and it leads the SEC in scoring defense (54.1 ppg). For more on tonight’s matchup, check out my scouting report from today’s Journal.
