Recruiting: Louisiana QB Picks Bulldogs

Mississippi State has its second quarterback of the 2013 class. Damian Williams, a 6-foot-1, 215-pounder from Metairie, La., made a verbal commitment to MSU today. Here’s the story from Paul Jones of Bulldawgs247.

Williams had been committed to Southern Miss, and it’s a big loss for the Golden Eagles. For MSU, it’s the second QB commitment for this class, the other being Cord Sandberg. The addition of Williams is especially important because Sandberg could wind up going pro in baseball this summer.

Williams is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He took an official visit to MSU this weekend. Last season for Archbishop Rummel, Williams passed for 1,900 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions, and he also rushed for 874 yards and 10 TDs.

MSU has 23 commitments in this class. It lost one earlier today, when South Panola offensive lineman Deon Mix de-committed.
