Florida-MSU Pregame: Lindgren Returns as Bulldogs Go for Sweep

Previewing today’s series finale between Mississippi State and Florida.

First pitch: 1:30 p.m.

• Records: Florida 14-18 (4-7 SEC), MSU 26-8 (5-6)

• Pitching matchup: Florida RHP Johnny Magliozzi (2-1, 1.78) vs. MSU LHP Jacob Lindgren (2-0, 2.83)

• Florida lineup: CF Richie Martin, 2B Casey Turgeon, C Taylor Gushue, RF Justin Shafer, 1B Vickash Ramjit, 3B Josh Tobias, LF Harrison Bader, DH Mike Fahrman, SS Cody Dent

• MSU lineup: SS Adam Frazier, DH Alex Detz, RF Hunter Renfroe, 2B Brett Pirtle, 1B Wes Rea, CF C.T. Bradford, C Mitch Slauter, 3B Sam Frost, LF Jacob Robson

• What to watch for: MSU is going for its first SEC series sweep of the season, which would get it to .500 in league play. The Bulldogs haven’t swept Florida since 1989, when coach John Cohen was playing for State. Lindgren takes the mound today for the first time in more than two weeks, and coaches will keep a close eye on the elbow that’s been bothering him.

• Pregame playlist: A few songs from my iPod to set the tone…

–”The John Wayne,” Little Green Cars

–”Born at Zero,” Deer Tick

–”Freak Out,” Tapes ‘n Tapes

–”Good Intentions,” Paper Route

–”Girlfriend,” Streets of Laredo
