Bulldogs Return to Baseball America Poll at No. 21

After a one-week absence, Mississippi State returned to the Baseball America top 25 poll today, checking in at No. 21. You can view the poll here.

The Bulldogs (26-9, 5-7 SEC) won three games last week, beating South Alabama on Tuesday and then taking two of three against Florida at home this past weekend. MSU, once as high as third in the country, had slipped to 25th and then fell out of last week’s poll with a 3-6 start to SEC play. State was one of four teams to jump into the rankings this week, and it’s now ahead of Ole Miss, which fell six spots to 23rd.

With six weeks remaining in the regular season, RPI is something to begin watching closely. According to BoydsWorld.com, MSU’s RPI rank is 14th in the country, fourth in the SEC. WarrenNolan.com also has MSU 14th.

MSU is back in action Tuesday against Ole Miss in the annual Governor’s Cup game in Pearl. It doesn’t count in the SEC standings, but it is a big RPI game for the Bulldogs. The Rebels currently rank 16th in RPI. This weekend brings a trip to Texas A&M (29th in RPI).
