MSU Rises to No. 16 in Baseball America Poll

Mississippi State is on a roll and is rising in the rankings.

The Bulldogs (30-9, 8-7 SEC), fresh off a sweep of Texas A&M on the road, jumped five spots in this week’s Baseball America poll, to No. 16. MSU just re-entered the poll last week after dropping out for a week, and it’s now won seven of its last eight games.

Halfway through the SEC schedule, MSU is tied for third place with Alabama in the SEC Western Division, one game back of Arkansas and five behind leader LSU. The Bulldogs will try to keep the momentum going this weekend with a three-game home series against Auburn starting Thursday. The Tigers (22-14, 5-10) are last in the West and just took two of three from Georgia.

State has also risen slightly in the RPI rankings. According to both and, the Bulldogs are eighth in the nation in RPI, third among SEC teams.
