Alabama-MSU Baseball Opener Postponed; Doubleheader Saturday

Tonight’s baseball game between No. 22 Mississippi State and Alabama has been postponed until Saturday because of rain, the school just announced. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Neither of Saturday’s games will be televised. Tonight’s game had been scheduled for an ESPNU telecast. Sunday’s contest can be seen on CBS Sports Network.

Reserved seat tickets for Game 1 will be honored as general admission tickets Saturday, while Saturday’s reserved seat tickets will be honored for the stadium chairback section.

The Bulldogs (33-13, 10-11 SEC) were swept last weekend at Vanderbilt, while Alabama (27-18, 11-9) took both games of a rain-shortened series against Texas A&M.

Senior left-hander Luis Pollorena (6-2, 3.42 ERA) was tonight’s scheduled starting pitcher for MSU, but coach John Cohen is now pondering his options. Senior righty Kendall Graveman (5-4, 2.17) is the normal Game 2 starter but could be an option for Game 1.
