OMAHA, Neb. | Mississippi State got in a practice this morning at nearby Creighton University, and we caught up with coach John Cohen beforehand.
The Bulldogs (49-18) are preparing for Monday’s College World Series second-round game against Indiana (49-14), to be played at 7 p.m. When we spoke, Cohen had not yet decided on a starting pitcher.
“With the right-left component, certainly (Luis) Pollorena‘s a consideration, (Trevor) Fitts is a consideration, Ben Bracewell is a consideration,” Cohen said. “We’re going to look at all of our options and probably do something a little later on today.”
MSU is trying to bone up on the Hoosiers, who beat Louisville 2-0 on Saturday. Indiana has been very adept at the plate all season, but it showed last night that it can win with pitching and defense.
“Every part of what they do was really solid. They’re not a fluke,” Cohen said. “They went into one of the most difficult places to play in the country in Florida State and swept that series, and look what they did last night. So I think they’ve shown they can win in a variety of ways.”
Check the video below for more from Cohen. I’ll have some player videos in a bit.
