Videos: Rea, Renfroe, Ammirati Discuss History, Oregon State

OMAHA, Neb. | I had a column in today’s Journal about what MSU’s run to the College World Series means in a historical context, and that was a major topic of discussion today when we spoke to MSU players after practice. It’s actually been a big topic since the Bulldogs got here. This is just the second team in program history to start the CWS 2-0, and it can be the first to start 3-0. MSU will have that chance Friday (2 p.m., ESPN) when it plays Oregon State (52-12) in the bracket championship game.

Besides the history, we also talked with the guys about comeback wins (I’m writing about that for tomorrow’s Journal), former player Burke Masters paying a visit (I’ll have video of him later), and the rematch with Oregon State. The video above is of first baseman Wes Rea, and below you can check out outfielder Hunter Renfroe and catcher Nick Ammirati.

I am the online content coordinator for I also co-host The Memo and Prep Rally podcasts and host the Newsbreak program. Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04).
