Chris Hughes Suspended Indefinitely; Sanders Leaving Team

MSU linebacker Chris Hughes has been suspended indefinitely, and wide receiver Ricco Sanders will not return to the team for the 2013 season, according to a team spokesman. No reason was given for either Hughes’ suspension or Sanders’ departure.

Hughes (6-foot-1, 225 pounds), a senior, made 31 tackles, one tackle-for-loss and two fumble recoveries in 12 games last season, and he had been expected to play a major role this season. This was his third suspension since coming to MSU, two of them enforced by the team. Hughes was suspended  by coach Dan Mullen for the 2011 season opener after an offseason arrest, and the SEC benched him for one game as a freshman after he delivered a “flagrant” hit on a defenseless player.

Sanders (5-11, 195), also a senior, has not had a very productive career at MSU. Last season, he had one catch for 3 yards in seven games.

  • Dangon Hughes had a chance to play alot this year.I was looking forward for him to bring that helmet this fall.I think his heart wasnt into really changing for the better.Later on in life,he gonna regret it!.Now, LB’s B.Brown and Z.Jackson gotta step in and back up Skinner on the strongside.I feel bad for Rico.He started out good for us a couple of years ago.Wish him the best.

I guess he must have gotten in some big trouble (both together).. Hate to say it but major college programs have to start doing this when these kids get into trouble with the law. Would love to see LSU do the same, but half their team would be gone..
