Another arrest has cut short the Mississippi State football career of Chris Hughes.
The linebacker is no longer with MSU’s football team, a team spokesman said Thursday. He was arrested on a domestic violence charge last month, according to the Mobile Press-Register. It’s his third arrest, with two of them coming in 2011, leading to a suspension in MSU’s season opener. Hughes was also suspended one game by the SEC his freshman year for delivering a “flagrant” hit on a defenseless player.
Hughes made 31 tackles last season in a reserve role and was expected to be a key part of the linebacker rotation this fall. He would have been a senior.
