HOOVER, Ala. | Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell handled SEC Media Days like a pro. The fifth-year senior expects to be just as competent on the field this fall, and last year’s poor finish is a motivating factor. That’ll be a story in tomorrow’s Journal. Russell doesn’t like the way he or the team finished out, losing five of the last six games, including an Egg Bowl loss to Ole Miss. He threw four interceptions in a 34-20 Gator Bowl loss to Northwestern.
“For me it’s just getting back to the basics, just knowing what I’m capable of doing, and I’ve never worked this hard in my life, and I’m passionate about it,” Russell said. “You take the good and the bad out of those games, and overall I think we’ll be fine.”
I’ve also got videos of linebacker Benardrick McKinney and defensive lineman Kaleb Eulls.
