Recruiting: MSU Gets Commitments from Two Pitchers

Just a few weeks after reaching the finals of the College World Series, MSU is continuing to beef up its talent. The Bulldogs recently received verbal commitments from a pair of pitchers: Jesse McCord of Spanish Fort, Ala., and Aaron Dominguez of Chino Hills, Calif. Both are right-handers.

You can check out a lengthy story on McCord here, and there’s some good video of Dominguez here.

McCord went 9-1 with a 0.91 ERA, 106 strikeouts and 25 walks in 69 1/3 innings this past season. He led Spanish Fort to the Class 5A state championship series. According to, Dominguez was 4-4 with a 3.65 ERA in 53 2/3 innings last season. He drew starts in seven of his 13 appearances and tossed three complete games.

The early signing period for baseball is Nov. 13-20.

4-4 with a 3.65 ERA doesn’t seem real impressive for high school ball. Are there extenuating circumstances that would make Cohen think he could play on the SEC level, Brad?

Well, he can throw in the 90s, so Butch and John must see something they think they can develop there.
