STARKVILLE | In nine days, Tyler Russell will have a chance to chase off the demons that haunted him late last season, when he threw six interceptions combined in the Egg Bowl and Gator Bowl. When the Bulldogs face Oklahoma State on Aug. 31 in Houston, the Mississippi State quarterback will look to get his season off to a strong start.
The tough ending in 2012 still motivates Russell, a fifth-year senior.
“I looked at that all summer, spring training,” he said. “It motivated me to get better, motivated me to push through it and know that I can make those plays when the plays are there to be made. But I can’t force anything. I’m not a superhero, so I’ve got to go out there and rely on the other guys to help me make plays.”
He also discussed today’s scrimmage work inside the Palmeiro Center, Oklahoma State and how things have gone throughout preseason camp.
