Jackson named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State senior left guard GABE JACKSON Gabe Jackson was named as the Offensive Lineman of the Week by the Southeastern Conference for his contributions in the Bulldogs 62-7 win over Troy.

Jackson did not have a missed assignment and was credited with five pancake blocks in helping MSU’s offense roll up 551 yards of offense against the Trojans.

The 6-foot-4, 335-pounder from Amite County High School in Liberty started his 43rd consecutive game for the Bulldogs. That mark is tied for second among active FBS players and is one game behind Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.

Jackson is considered by many analysts as the top offensive guard prospect in next year’s NFL Draft. He flirted with the idea of turning pro following just junior season but ultimately decided to return for his final fall.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
