STARKVILLE – Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott and cornerback Jamerson Love have both been honored this week by the College Football Performance Awards for their achievements in the 62-7 win over Troy.
Both players received honorable mentions at their respective positions. Prescott accounted for 322 total yards and four touchdowns in his third career start. The sophomore completed 13 of 21 passing for 233 yards and a touchdown and rushed five times for 53 yards and two more scores. He also hauled in a 36-yard touchdown pass from Jameon Lewis.
Prescott and Lewis became the first teammates to throw, catch and run for touchdowns in a single game in Southeastern Conference history.
Love intercepted Troy quarterback Corey Robinson on the game’s opening drive and returned it 70-yards for a touchdown. The junior from Aberdeen also broke up two more passes later in the contest.
The Bulldogs conducted three days of practice during their bye week and will take the weekend off before returning to continue preparations to host LSU on Oct. 5.
