STARKVILLE – For the second straight year Mississippi State will host “Maroon Madness” for its men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. on Creelman Street between The Junction and Dorman Hall on campus. The skills showcase will include a slam dunk contest and other games as well as The Famous Maroon Band, cheerleaders and mascots and is free to the public.
Last year’s inaugural Maroon Madness took place in downtown Starkville.
In other women’s basketball news, head coach Vic Schaefer has added Skylar Collins to his staff as video coordinator. Collins was a standout under Schaefer at Texas A&M leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament all four years including a 2011 national title.
Collins is the fourth member of Schaefer’s staff that he worked with in College Station.
“Skylar is someone we are all very familiar with. She’s a tireless worker who spent an incredible amount of time in the gym,” Schaefer said in a statement. “She was a key part of our national championship team, and she had a lot of success as a player. Her work ethic fits in well with what we do here at Mississippi State.”
