Mississippi State has parted ways with Oxford senior defensive end Darrius Liggins.

The Bulldogs pulled their scholarship offer from the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder, who had been committed since June 15.

Liggins, a two-star prospect by Rivals.com, made 80 tackles (22 solo, 58 assists), 14 tackles for loss, eight sacks, seven pass deflections, one interception and 12 quarterback hurries as a senior. He helped lead the Chargers to a 14-1 record and into the Class 5A State Championship game.

Now Liggins’ lone offer is from UAB.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
