Two Mississippi State relievers were named to their second preseason All-American team on Monday.

Less than a week after being selected for the honor by the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, juniors Jonathan Holder and Ross Mitchell were picked by Louisville Slugger to its Preseason All-American team selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Holder was a first team selection after recording a school-record 21 saves last spring. The right-hander from Gulfport went 2-0 with a 1.65 earned run average and notched 90 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings of work.

Mitchell was picked to the third team following his 13-0 2013 season out of the bullpen. The southpaw logged 94 innings over 34 appearances maintaining a 1.53 ERA and fanning 44 batters.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
